My Top Ten All Time Favourite Glitter Nail Polishes
Guest post for Powder Doom by Alyssa

For those of you who don’t already know me from my blog Random Acts of Pastel, I love all things glittery, especially nail polishes! I mean, there are really very few things in this world more satisfying than looking down at your purrrfectly glittery paws, don’t you think?

The only problem is, so many glitter nail polishes look much better in the bottle than on actual nails, or don’t provide as much coverage as you hoped they would. As a long-time glitter polish enthusiast, I’ve tested and tried so many different glitters, and in turn I’ve created an (ever growing) shortlist of my all time favourites. You can thank me later with glittery photos and suggestions of your own?

1. Butter London “Fairy Cake”
I’m a big fan of anything hologram, and this hologram glitter by Butter London is no exception. A magical rainbow of colours, this polish works great as a topcoat, or on its own with two coats for extra coverage.

Which TIME Is It?
The April 28, 2014, issue.
Yeah, you’ll to need to sign in and/or up to read Lev Grossman’s take on the show in TIME (this week’s third major article on the series, all leading up to Monday’s season six premiere), but it’s worth it, and not just for Pen’s artwork, above. From "Adventure Time’s Moving Pictures,"

… for a show set in a magic postapocalyptic world, Adventure Time is fiercely committed to its own brand of realism. It has a lot of internal integrity. The fart jokes aren’t there because they’re funny–or not just because they’re funny–they’re there because real people fart a lot too. “We don’t have a ton of cartoon logic,” says Adam Muto, a co–executive producer of the show. “There was a thing where if anyone lifted something from offscreen, Pen would flag it and say, No, they need to be carrying that the entire time. Because why would they just pull it from offscreen?”

Go here to get to the entire piece. Of course, you can always buy the magazine - the one printed on paper - too.
Thanks, Lev.

"Her and Lost In Translation are connected to each other. They’re very much on the same wavelength. They explore a lot of the same ideas. This all makes sense since Spike Jonze and Sofia Coppola were married from 1999 to 2003 and had been together for many years before that. Sofia Coppola had already made her big personal statement in regards to love and marriage right when the couple was on the verge of divorce; Her would be Spike Jonze’s answer to those feelings. What makes it even more poignant is that Her never feels resentful or petty. It feels more like a legitimate apology. It’s an acknowledgement that, in the end, some people aren’t meant to be with each other in the long run. Some people do grow apart. Lost in Translation is about a couple on the verge of growing apart, Her is about finally letting go of the person you’ve grown apart with and moving on.”
